Bitches be calling aaaall the time!

There won't be a comic on Sunday! I have work to do! Just to get that out of the way.

Well here's an awesome new character! Based on a dude. Some people know him. He's a jerk, as shown in the comic!

I might put him in the main comic now.

Achievement Unlocked: The Tale of Eluart the Hero

I WIN! For a while I didn't think I'd do it, but I did! Project Crazy was a success! I made a 4 and a half minutes animated film in 1 day(around 13 hours to be exact). Heavy on the story, weak on the "animation".

Anyway, why talk about it when you can watch it! Hop to it! It's a fantasy piece about a man and a monster.

Project CRAZY!

I'm about to do something insane.

I am going to make a short animated film in the space of 1 day. Tomorrow. This counts from the time I wake up till I sleep. Some time less than 24 hours.

I think I can do it! But I'm known to be terribly ambitious. Even at the cost of my dignity.

So here's the deal. I had this idea for a film where a monster attacks a village and the 2 survivors hunt the monster down and kill it, so as a way to pitch the idea, and have a little project put to rest, I'll be telling the story of the monsters origin.

I'm in the process of writing it's already become rather impressive. I guess you'll all see what it's about tomorrow, but here's some of the concept work for the return of the monster.

You may notice a pattern with my villains being silhouettes. Sorry, but I love the idea of the enemy being unknown, despite their obvious presence. Cloverfield did it nicely, never showing fully what the monster looked like until literally the last second. I prefer the idea that it's just complete blackness, save for the white holes that are the eyes and mouth, I'll play into that in the origin.

I'm not pandering to your desires

I'm sick of this....

Do other comic writers have this problem?!

This was a freaky and true coincidence. We were listening to music on shuffle and I'm So Tired by the Beatles just so happens to start playing shortly after a discussion on how long Dan has been awake.

You'll be surprised how much my work is influenced by music. Even the Murderman! It originated from I'm Your Boogie Man, which is a song that could easily be about murder...

I even used it in this shitty animation featuring the Murderman . Shitty because I had no way of line testing and layering it properly. There was also very little time to get it done, as well as there being 2 other films to finish at the time. It's still my favourite piece I've done.

2nd year of college was fun.

I guess that this must be the place...

I have a pencil and ink version of this piece as well, which looks much better.
I'm trying something. I thought I'd do some practicing with my digital pen. It's something I tried a while back...for like a day, when I was considering changing my style completely. Become much more of a cartoonist. It certainly had some peculiar results.

I really suck at it... but there is SOME improvement over the very few images.

And now it's time to talk about the images. I decided to do some interpretation of song lyrics. the first image was from This Must be the Place by Talking Heads

Home - is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home - she lifted up her wings
I guess that this must be the place

This is an interpretation of the original version of Tenacious D's Tribute way back when it had a riff from Stairway to Heaven.

It's Satan's surprise and its magic
It's a mystical disguise ahhh
The Devil's song and it's tragic
You are the mystical eyed virgin and your rocking

Now this... Is from a Red Hot Chili Peppers song. She Looks to Me

He looks to me like heaven
Sent this for your roughest night
She looks to me
She looks to me all right

They're all very rough as you can see... And suck quite a bit.

I've got True Grit suckah!

So to commemorate the UK release of True Grit, I give you Ken as Rooster Cogburn. I was considering making my next movie parody True Grit, but this will suffice.

It's not the cleanest image, but I'm considering doing some heavy duty colouring. I also spent an hour working on it before... and I don't think I saved it! God dammit!

The Greatest Day of My Life

Anyone on Twitter or Facebook might remember me talking about this...

I love cartoons! (Well, I am a cartoonist) And for those interested.... Here's the intros for each series mentioned in the comic Cybersix Redwall Fillmore Kids Next Door I recommend you watch the Cybersix intro because it looks amazing, and Redwall is unbelievably good as a whole!

Now THIS is Emer from the Murderman! I haven't seen her in a year! But now she's back and you're gonna see a LOT of comics with her in them. Then maybe you'll realise why I put her into the Murderman in the first place. That spirit and humour I was never able to capture myself, shall now be refined through these comics.

Also...Pencil! It needs some work, but I'll figure it out.

And 2 makes 3!

Yes, it's pronounced the same... but it's not Emer.

There's a story behind this picture. A hilariously true story... that I have no business telling. Mostly because I would be very uncomfortable about it and most people would be like "What is wrong with this woman?!"

So All you get is this image. Think of your own reasons why she's dressed this way. And don't be afraid to juice it up!

Also she owns a costume like that... If she didn't, this picture would be totally naked except for the cowbell.

HERE'S ANOTHER COMIC!

This is the same guy from this comic.

These things are so fun to do! I didn't think it would catch on for me, but damn... I got loads! And the fact they take 10 minutes each just make it even better. I'm gonna change it to pencil drawings though. It'll look better, if a little dirtier. I can actually fix mistakes after all!

Uppercut!

Those darn cats.

I forgot about this.... the next comic will have the short hair!

He's Blue and Cyan

The shop girl was not too pleased with my outburst.

Also I had really forgotten I was getting Megaman and actually thought she said Megamind. Then I remembered Megaman...

And from now on, these comics will have me with short hair. VERY short hair.

Inspirations

I mentioned before that my Journal comics were inspired by Kate Beaton . Well Now I wanna talk about her(and some other artists) for a while. I'm not short on comics for here, I just wanna do this instead.

In the last few months, I've been heavily influenced by cartoonists and how they get by doing what I do! Sometimes I try to over-complicate things but these guys just show me I don't need to! Look at that duck comic! So simplistic, yet it's one of her most well known comics. THAT'S what inspires me so much.

Another reason I wanted to write this is because she posted updates on Twitter from her life drawing class last night... with hilarious results! (That's 3 separate links by the way!) And considering in my life drawing class I was forced to stay away from my own style and just seeing her blatantly use her own made me resent those forceful classes. It also gives me the knowledge that an artist, cartoonists in particular, is nothing if they don't have a distinguishable style. It puzzles me why people...other artists... don't understand that! If you recall my older post... the reason I started project December was because I was accused of all my characters "looking the same" when it was actually just an insulting comment that I have a distinct style!

Well I'm gonna stop this rant here and talk about the other artists. I was led to Kate Beaton on a forum one day, and promptly followed her on Twitter when I discovered she had one, and through that I discovered even more great cartoonists that served to inspire me just as much, if not more than Kate Beaton herself! First, there was Scott C. Probably most know for his artwork on the video game Psychonauts, but every weekday he releases a Great Showdown from cinema history. Then there was Emily Carroll, who really blew up after her amazing Halloween comic(That's even how I discovered her). And Graham Annable, who recently did ALL of the art and animation for a Professor Layton-like game called Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent. It's €5! Available on iPod, iPad and PC. I recommend it!

All amazing artists, and if you have any interest in my work, it won't kill you to look at their work!

Well that's all! I gotta get back to tomorrows Murderman comic!

It'll be a party!

Women are just full of lies and empty promises!

I was sorely disappointed.

I'm sad now

Whatta bitch!

....it was a long day! By all rights, I should be grumpy
